Course Syllabus in Physics

PHYSCS 111 is intended for students of Quezon City Polytechnic University, which covers the study of standards of measurement and conversion of units, review of trigonometry, composition and resolution of vectors, conditions of equilibrium, friction, motion, Newton’s laws of motion, and gravitation, circular motion, work, energy, power, impulse and momentum, rotation of rigid bodies, elasticity, and vibratory motion.

Credit Unit: Three (3.0) units

Distribution of Hours per Week: Three (3.0) hours

General Objectives: For the students to learn the relationship of physics theories and concepts with its real world , their environmental implications, and also to prepare them to face the challenges relevant to everyday life.

Specific Objectives of the Course:
1. To expose QCPU students to essential foundation in physics especially, those students who will take-up Information Technology, Industrial Engineering and Entrepreneurship.
2. Provide experiential learning to the students the importance and necessity of measurements by giving emphasis on the standards of measurement and conversion of units particularly under the metric system.

3. Recall to the students the basic concepts and principles of mechanics – forces and vectors, motion and gravitation, which can be applied to the study of engineering, information technology and entrepreneurship.
4. Understand and apply the principles of work, energy, and power.
